There are certain recommendations for heat treating this alloy too. If you are working with a bar, it is best to solution treat at 1975ºF. Do this for eight hours and water/oil quench or air cool. For precipitation treatment, do this at 1290ºF for 16 hours and then air cool.
In addition, if you are curious about the machinability, your alloy needs to be in a fully heat-treated state. This is prior to any machining. It is ideal to machine the metal under strict conditions as well.
